Out of Retirement

Out of Retirement

Wow, things are quiet without Jack or Grim around. I had taken most of my toons out of the SG, leaving behind Harmoniae, Womby, Mase, Dmitrius, and Eule. The ones that are out of the SG have the barest minimum of a storyline (I think KT is the most fleshed-out), so I didn't want to set them up.

Friday night I think was uneventful. Saturday we did the Moonfire TF and blew right through it. Also did a Sealer's mission and did not quite blow through that one, though it seemed to be slightly easier than the others we'd done. Either that or we're getting better, or the team composition is better.

Eule came out and he was flustered around Miranda, a new person. (I flubbed some dialogue, and covered it up by making him nervous. Not quite his character, but my excuse was that Miranda is older than him, and he's intimidated by older people. Priest scares the bejesus out of him, even if he did see him naked.) Then Adam and Jason came in and Eule retreated into a corner, seeing the two of them all lovey. He became totally silent, and left when Oblique mentioned true love.

I pulled Mase out on Saturday. Compared to Dmitrius, it was like I was driving a snail. Dmitrius is far more mobile and actually a lot tougher than Mase, except in Granite mode. Mind you, Mase is so old that he doesn't have IO's, just a few Hami-O's. I retired him around the time IO's were introduced, and I wasn't expecting to play him much at all after his exposure to Twisted Twilight. But against Dmitrius...wow. I love Dmitrius.

Mase is my most neutral character right now (for once!), and I'm bringing him back to his first basic story - that he has to take a serum in order to do superhero stuff, and the serum makes him stupid, at least for a little while. It makes him oblivious to social cues and jokes. However, he still is very nice to the ladies, complimenting them and being very supportive of them. He doesn't take the serum often, only when he goes out with the intention to fight crime. Without the stone, he's pretty weakened, but not worthless. I am making him "I won't speak unless spoken to".

Adam asked who he was when they were on a mission, and Mase introduced himself. Then he shut up and went about his business. Again, lack of social cues. When they finished the mission, he went and stared at the water in the pool. And stared. And stared. He didn't say anything until Adam spoke to him. Mase doesn't know about the magic fridge or liquor cabinet. He never thought to ask.

Petite came over and gave him a wolf whistle, which he initially didn't know was directed at him. Then Mase called her a "pretty lady" and complimented her. Mark showed up, and Mase saw their interaction, and then he clammed right up. When faced with blocks, Mase goes quiet and retreats into himself. He used to be the opposite, and would fight against them. But now he's on his last life. He's being more cautious.

The last entry for Bride Price will be tomorrow. I was thinking of doing a Prae-Mase (I had done one about 3 years ago when the other SG I was in at Guardian did the same thing, but I killed him off), but the Prae group has been established. If Grim ever gets captured by Prae - or anyone anymore for that matter - the rest of SH would probably be thankful.
