Rusty to Grim: "I don't know how you can piss these people off. It boggles the mind."
Grim looks at Rusty and laughs.
Jack chuckles, "He's good."
Grim to Lue: "No secrets. I made that rule for Havens, and I intend to abide by it."
Grim: "I'd totally submit to you."
Lue: "I don't want your submission. I want you to see what I see when I look at you."
Grim is in Wentworth's when Lue shows up. Grim offers to take him out for dinner. They go to Faultline and get a pizza, and sit next to the fountain and talk. Grim then tells Lue what his initial intentions for him were. Lue says that "I owe you so much, it would have been your due." But Grim couldn't - and can't - bring himself to do it. He truly loves him. He begs Lue's forgiveness for thinking that way intially. Lue forgives him.
Grim then says he's going to Havens to just check in, to see how Raina's doing, that hopefully she's calmed down enough so that he can talk rationally to her. Lue says he'll wait at home for him. They're in public, Grim kind of hims-and-haws about whether to kiss him goodbye, so he just walks away.
He gets to the base, and sees Shadow and Rusty in the lab. He's happy to see them, but then Shadow tells Grim that he's been banned from the base. "I have to find Myrrh. And I have to look through every human mind in the world to do it." Grim's response, "Are you fucking kidding me?!"
It seems that Shadow had taken out Myrrh and put her in a human body. (For some reason, she's got it out for Grim because when they first met she wanted to kill him - maybe it has to do with the fact that he tried to kill her once a while back? Or that Grim is a mage and she's afraid of him because he can control her?) Now Myrrh's loose and jumping from body to body. Raina banned Shadow from the base until he finds Myrrh. This pisses Grim off to no end.
They plan on trapping her. Grim makes up a few sigils and gives it to Rusty and Jack so that it makes it difficult for Myrrh to jump into their minds. Then the group goes to Talos and camps out at one of the islands there. Shadow gets her to appear - she's in a teenage girl's mind and using her ability to astral project. Jack sends a file that he got from Raina to Grim's phone. There are news reports of ten bodies dead in different ways, but the same MO of friends killing friends. The last body has Grim's face burned into the ground next to it. "I hope they got my right profile. My left one sucks." (One thing about Grim: the more emotion in a scene, the more he makes light of it.)
Grim goes into the astral plane with the avatar and tracks the girl's soul back to the train station, where she's lying bleeding to death. Shadow teleports them all to her (well, they have to get there) and Jack stabilizes her while Grim looks for a ley line. He finds one, and starts drawing from it to heal her. Then someone else starts using it and he balks (it's like a little tug of war) and he lets go. By then, the bleeding has stopped, and physically she's okay. Jack says he'll check in on her later to see if he needs to heal her mind.
Shadow meanwhile has trapped Myrrh in a vessel (a stone, I think) and Jack charges Shadow with finding her homeworld in three days: "Or we destroy it, or it gets sent to the Netherworld, or SOMETHING." They need to find Hecker first. To be continued.
